How much does vinyl gutter installation cost?
On average, the cost of installing vinyl gutters is about $4-6 per linear foot. The cost of installing vinyl gutters will depend on several factors:
1. Where do you live? Your geographic location may impact the cost of gutter installation. You should expect to pay more when closer to larger cities and you may pay a little bit less in small towns. Additionally, installing gutters in a remote area may come at an additional cost.
2. Gutter replacement. Removing the existing gutter system will add to the overall cost of installing new gutters. If you are installing gutters on a brand new home with no existing system, this may help you save a few extra dollars.
3. Sectional or seamless? Sectional gutters are the most affordable option. They come in prefabricated pieces that can be joined together. Seamless gutters are fabricated on-site to fit the exact dimensions of your home. These gutters are less likely to leak because of the minimal number of joints and seams.
4. House size. Larger houses will need more gutters, adding to the material costs and labor costs of the project. Most contractors charge a fixed fee per linear foot of guttering. Additionally, if you live in a home with more than 2 stories, there may be an additional cost for installing gutters on the tallest part of the home.
5. Gutter size and style. In most cases, the larger the gutters, the more they will cost. For example, 5-inch gutters are more affordable than 6-inch gutters. Additionally, there are many different styles of gutters to choose from, including box gutters, K-style gutters, or half-round gutters. Each style comes at a different price point.
6. How steep is your roof? The steepness of your roof may add to the cost of vinyl gutter installation. It is more challenging to install gutters on steeper roofs and roofs made with fragile materials like slate or tile.
7. Downspouts and hangers. Before the contractor begins installing the gutters, make sure that all of the necessary parts and accessories are included in the cost estimate. Everything from nails to clips and hangers should be included in the total project cost.
8. Do I want to install gutter protection? Gutter guards and gutter covers are not typically included in the cost of installing vinyl gutters. However, they can be installed relatively easily for an additional cost.
9. Maintenance costs. In many places, vinyl gutters are the most affordable guttering solution. However, vinyl gutters tend to become brittle and crack in extremely cold conditions. Replacing cracked gutters will add to the long-term cost of the gutters.
