How much does it cost to install seamless gutters?
The average cost of installing seamless gutters is about $5.00 per linear foot. However, the cost of installing seamless gutters will increase or decreased based upon a number of different factors, including:
1. Your geographic location. Where you live will be an important factor in determining the cost of installation.
2. How large is your house? The size of your house will likely determine the amount of guttering you need. Larger houses will need longer gutters and downspouts, adding to the cost of the project.
3. When will the gutters be installed? Installing gutters during peak season is generally more expensive. Having a flexible project timeline may help keep your project on budget.
4. Are you replacing your existing guttering? Taking down the existing gutters will take additional time and it will likely add to the overall cost of your project.
5. Style of gutter. K-style (or ogee) gutters are the most popular option for seamless gutters. Choosing another style of gutter may add to the cost of installation.
6. Do you live in a two or three story home? Installing gutters on taller homes will be more expensive as this usually requires additional safety equipment or special ladders.
7. Is your roof steep? It is often more difficult to install gutters on steep roofs. This will add to the cost of seamless gutter installation.
8. Rain gutter material. Seamless gutters are most commonly made of aluminum or galvanized steel. However, they can also be made of vinyl or copper in some cases. Copper gutters are easily twice the price of aluminum or vinyl gutters.
9. Gutter and downspout size. 5-inch gutters are almost always cheaper than 6-inch gutters. Additionally, larger downspouts are more expensive, but they are better equipped to handle large quantities of water.
10. Are any warranties available? Make sure to ask your contractor about any warranties on the gutters themselves or the workmanship. Many seamless gutter contractors will offer a guarantee on the work for a set number of years. Purchasing an extended warranty may add to the cost of installation.
11. Is everything included? In addition to the gutters, the contractor will need to purchase nails, downspouts, hangers, clips, and end caps. Make sure that all of the necessary parts and hardware are included in your signed contract to avoid any surprises.
12. Is your home accessible? Will a local company be installing the gutter system? You should expect to pay extra for long-distance travel. Additionally, seamless gutters are typically made on-site. Will the contractor’s truck or trailer be able to easily reach your home?
13. Installing gutter guards? Gutter screens and gutter covers are great at keeping fallen leaves and debris out of gutters. Nonetheless, installing a gutter protection system will be an additional cost.
