Hiring a Gutter Cleaning Service
By ProMatcher Staff
Things to Consider Before Hiring a Gutter Cleaner
When evaluating a cost estimate from a gutter cleaning service, there are a few questions that you should ask yourself, including:
1. Does the quote include all of the guttering, including the ones on the second floor?
2. Does the quote include the first story about the walk-out basement?
3. Will the contractor clean the inside and the outside of the gutters?
4. How is the price of cleaning determined? Is there a flat rate for the entire home or is there a fixed fee per linear foot?
5. If the contractor quoted you a fixed fee, is there a possibility that the cost could change based on the amount of guttering?
6. Will the contractor require access to the water supply at my home?
7. If the contractor discovers any issues with the gutters, will the repair work add to the cost of cleaning?
8. How will the gutters be cleaned? Will the contractor blow out the debris or use water?
9. If signing a service contract, how long will it last? How many visits are included? When will they occur?
10. Will the contractor bag up any debris that is removed from the gutters, or will the waste remain on the ground?
11. Do you need to be home when the service is performed?
12. How will you billed for the work? Will the bill arrive in the mail or is payment expected upon completion of the job?
13. Does the contractor accept all methods of payment? Can you pay with a personal check or credit card?
14. Is the contractor fully insured? Can he provide any references?
