Metal Gutter Installation Cost

Cost of Metal Gutter Installation

The cost of metal gutter installation depends on several different factors. Check out ProMatcher’s Gutter Cost Report to get more information about the cost in your area. Before hiring any contractor, make sure the professional is licensed and fully insured.

Here are some important cost factors:

1. Where do you live? The cost of metal gutter installation will depend on your geographic location. Expect to pay more in major metropolitan areas and a little bit less in small towns.

2. Is this a new home? The cost of installation is typically less expensive for new homes. The removal and disposal of existing gutters will add to the cost of your project.

3. How many linear feet of guttering is going to be installed? This number will be the basis of the contractor’s quote.

4. Are downspouts included in the cost estimate? The cost of installing downspouts will be determined by the linear foot as well. If drainage is a problem, you may need to install downspout extensions as well. This may add to the cost of installation.

5. Gutter material. What type of metal gutters do you want? There are several options to choose from, including 1) galvanized gutters, 2) galvalume gutters, 3) aluminum gutters, 4) copper gutters, 5) corrugated steel, and 6) stainless steel. While aluminum gutters are fairly inexpensive, copper gutters are some of the most expensive on the market.

6. Hardware and accessories. Are the hangers, nails, end caps, and joints included in the quote? All of the necessary materials should be included in the written cost estimate to avoid surprise charges later on.

7. Does your home have a second story? Installing gutters on a two or three-story home will generally be more expensive. Working on the second story typically requires additional safety equipment, adding to the cost of installation.

8. Are you interested in installing gutter guards? The installation of gutter guards or covers will add to the cost of metal gutters. By installing gutter protection, you will not need to clean your gutters quite as often.

9. Emergency installations. The cost of gutter installation will generally increase if the contractor has to make an emergency visit. Gutters can be damaged by strong winds or severe weather.
