Gutter Repair Costs
By ProMatcher Staff
How Much Does Gutter Repair Cost?
There is no simple answer to this question. However, the cost will be determined by a number of different factors. The list below should help you get a better idea of approximately how much your project should cost.
1. Where you live. Gutter repair prices tend to be higher in large metropolitan areas like New York or San Francisco. If you live in a smaller town or rural area, you can expect to pay a little bit less than the national average.
2. Gutter material. The cost of repair really depends on what type of gutters and downspouts you have. While vinyl gutter sections are very affordable, replacing a section of copper guttering can be very expensive.
3. Extent of the damage. What type of repairs are needed? Does the contractor need to replace rusted metal pieces? Does a downspout need to be reattached? Or, do the joints and end caps need to re-sealed to prevent leaks? The severity of the damage will be one of the most important cost factors. Replacing an entire section of guttering will be more expensive than sealing a few cracks.
4. Number of hours required. How long will it take to complete the repair work? Many contractors and handymen will charge an hourly rate for repair work. Then, you’ll also be responsible for the cost of the materials and supplies.
5. Safety equipment. How many stories is the home? How steep is the roof? Can the area needing repair be reached with a standard ladder? The cost of any special safety equipment will come at an additional cost.
6. Gutter cleaning. If your gutters are not doing their job, you may just need to have them cleaned out. Leaves, debris, and other material can accumulate in gutters and downspouts over time. When the water has nowhere to go, it may seep into your roof or through your foundation. Check out ProMatcher’s Gutter Cleaning Cost Report for more information.
