Copper Gutters Cost
By ProMatcher Staff
How much does copper gutter installation cost?
The cost of copper rain gutter installation can vary greatly, depending on the amount of materials you need and your geographic location. However, on average, you should expect to pay between $25-35 per linear foot for copper gutter installation.
1. How much material is needed? The amount of guttering you need will take up the biggest chunk of your budget. Most contractors will charge a fixed fee per linear foot for copper gutters. For larger homes, you will generally need more materials. This will add significantly to the cost of your project.
2. Style of gutter. There are several types of gutters to choose from. The most popular types of copper gutters are: 1) half-round gutters, 2) K-style gutters, or 3) high-back ogee gutters. Depending on the size of the gutter, the style you choose may have a notable impact on the cost of installation.
3. Copper thickness. The thickness of copper is frequently determined by the weight per square foot. Thicker copper gutters are generally more expensive than thinner ones. The three most common thicknesses are 16, 18, or 20 ounces.
4. Are all of the parts included? Make sure that all of the required materials are included in the cost estimate from your contractor. In addition to the gutters themselves, you may also need end caps, downspouts, clips, hangers, nails, joints, connections, rain chains, miters, and leader heads.

5. How many stories is your home? Installing copper gutters on a single-story home will almost always be more affordable than installing gutters on two and three-story homes. The installation process on home with two or more stories will likely require more safety equipment.
6. What type of roof do you have? Installing gutters on a home with steep or high-pitched) roof can be a difficult (and expensive) process. Additionally, if you have a tile, wood, or slate roof, this may add to the cost of installation. These roofing materials can be very fragile and extra precautions must be taken to avoid damaging it.
7. Removal of existing gutters. When replacing gutters, you should expect to pay an additional fee to have the existing gutters removed before the new ones are installed. If your existing gutters are also made of copper, keep in mind that you may be able to resell or recycle the scrap copper.
8. Gutters guards, screens, and covers. The installation of gutter guards or screens will add to the cost of your project. However, these will help keep leaves and other loose debris from entering the top of the gutter.
9. Project timeline. Emergency installations (due to gutter failure, weather damage, etc.) may incur an additional charge. If you can be flexible with the contractor’s schedule, you may be able to save a few dollars.
10. Maintenance. While copper gutters will last a very long time, keep in mind that the gutters will require some regular maintenance. This will factor into the long-term cost of copper gutter installation.
